We love to create. New things create a metal, lifting systems plan, to assemble crane tracks. There is, however, also an aspect of creation that does not result in the creation of a new thing, but in the extension of the life of an object that has already existed, in some cases for a very long time. This is what has happened in recent weeks.

Compulsory service, repair and renovation

It is perhaps no longer news that our company services not only the cranes we manufacture and install, or other lifting devices warranty and out-of-warranty repair but also by experienced service technicians from our service department, sometimes from other manufacturers. repair and refurbishment of old machines in a professional manner are able to perform.

We were recently given just such a task: a bakdaru a large but old diesel generator had to be overhauled.

What is a generator?

The dynamo is familiar to anyone who has ridden a traditional bicycle at dusk. The device that can produce electricity from kinetic energy.

The generator also supplies current, but unlike a dynamo, vcapable of producing pseudo-current from kinetic (typically rotational) energy. In a free formulation: A generator is a rotating electrical machine that converts mechanical work on its shaft into electrical energy.

The first generator was built by the British Michael Faraday made in 1831.

Operating principle

The generator is usually an is composed of an excited rotor and a stator with a winding system.

Stator bearing shields and the bearings in it keep the rotor centred and ensure its stable running.

Driving the rotor rotated by mechanical power, usually a prime mover (typically a diesel or petrol engine, or in the case of power stations, a wind, water, gas or steam turbine) connected to the generator shaft. This causes the induction lines of the rotor to intersect the stator winding system and induce a voltage in it.

Together, the generator and the prime mover that drives it are also called an aggregator.

Field of application

Diesel-powered generators are usually used in places where, where no electricity is available, or to run something a constant power supply is required and any power cuts must be bridged.

Bakdaruk in the case of, but it's not really a common technology in this size anymore, so our customer was very relieved that, although our staff only rarely come across such cranes anymore, they were able to renovate the old structure, thus avoid a costly asset purchase.
