After commissioning, depending on the operating group number of the lifting machine, at specified intervals, structural and main inspections, as well as must undergo a safety review at least every five years.
Unless otherwise agreed, the owner of the lifting equipment shall be responsible for carrying out the inspections or, in the absence of the necessary professional qualifications, for having them carried out.
During periodic inspections, it must be verified that the lifting equipment can be operated as intended and safely, and that it complies with MSZ 19170 series of standards regulations.
Crane and hoist inspections
During the structural inspection, the structural components of the lifting machine must be checked for damage, wear, permanent deformation or other abnormalities (e.g. loosening of bolts or wedges, cracks, breaks).
During the main investigation, in addition to the above, The relationship between the lifting machine and its environment, the proper operation of the lifting machine, and its main technical characteristics must be examined. Do they match the specifications in the manual, and does the lifting machine have the required safety equipment and documentation?.
During the safety surface inspection, it must be examined whether the structural design, mechanical and electrical equipment, and safety devices of the lifting machine comply with the requirements. the safety requirements in force at the time of the inspection. Does it operate according to its original function, and are the characteristics of its environment the same as those taken into account during design and manufacture?.

Examination schedule
The tests must be documented in the accompanying documentation for the lifting equipment, e.g. in the crane logbook (MSZ 9725). Reference must be made to the identification mark on the test report, measurement log or other document.. Written materials and documents containing the findings and results of the tests shall be retained as annexes to the accompanying documentation for the lifting machine.
The structural and main inspection depending on the operating group number of the lifting machine. In the case of lifting machines with a special design and purpose, more frequent inspections than those specified may be required.
The safety review must be carried out at least every five years, regardless of the operating group number, or when the lifting machine's environment changes (e.g. change in the technology served).
METHOD OF EXAMINATION
The lifting machine must be inspected during periodic inspections by visual inspection, touch, measuring instruments, measuring devices, without load and with load.
Lifting technology tests and their implementation

Visual inspection without dismantling the lifting machine or dismantling individual structural parts (e.g. removing the inspection hatch cover or protective cover), it must be carried out with the naked eye. This allows any wear, cracks, breaks or permanent deformation to be detected.
The necessity of dismantling individual structural parts and the extent of dismantling must be determined on a case-by-case basis during the inspection.
The tactile examination The lifting machine structure or its removed parts must be checked for damage and cracks by touching or tapping them.
The measurement test Non-conductive measuring tapes, measuring rods, protractors, etc. must be used to check the dimensions of the lifting machine and its components, as well as the dimensions of the connecting elements in the operating environment.
The metrological examination must be performed using instruments that can test the mechanical and electrical characteristics of the lifting machine. Geometric dimensions that cannot be measured with measuring instruments and the geometric characteristics of the operating location (e.g. crane track slope, level difference, snaking) are also the target areas of the measuring instrument test.
Idling (operational) test should be performed without load.
Before the test, the functionality and directional accuracy of the control devices must be checked by switching them on briefly.
During the test, all moving parts (lifting mechanism, drive mechanism, etc.) must be set in motion, taking into account all possible and permissible movement combinations and movement ranges specified in the design documentation, until the end position switches are activated.
During operational load testing The lifting machine must be loaded with its rated load capacity. The test must be carried out in at least two complete cycles until the limit switches are activated.
Machines with variable load capacity must be tested in accordance with the operating instructions (design specifications) or, in the absence of such specifications, at least in the positions with the maximum and minimum load capacity.
The brakes must be operated at least three times. The brakes of the dual-brake lifting mechanism must be tested separately to ensure that they function as specified.
After the inspection, the load-bearing structure must be checked carefully for damage.
The dynamic test During this process, the lifting machine must be loaded with 1.1 times its nominal load capacity. Then, all operational movements must be performed at least twice with the load lifted, separately in all directions of movement, until the limit switches are activated.
After the examination Check that there is no damage or harmful deformation and that the drive and brakes allow for normal use.
During the dynamic test, the load must be repeatedly stopped in different positions during lifting. In the case of a double-brake lifting device, this operation must be performed with both brakes separately.
FREQUENCY OF EXAMINATIONS

A hoist expert is authorised to perform periodic inspections (structural and main inspections) of hoists. For the main inspection of the lifting machine – except for lifting equipment with a permissible load capacity exceeding 1000 kg and lifting equipment where the operator's workplace is on the lifting trolley and the trolley can be raised to a height of more than 1.5 m – and only a lifting equipment administrator is authorised to carry out structural inspections, only a lifting machine inspector is authorised to carry out structural inspections.
