In our previous post, we began to explore how bridge crane systems can contribute to more sustainable industrial operations. Let's take a closer look at the developments manufacturers are implementing to achieve energy efficiency!

Companies are making increasing efforts to operate in a more energy-efficient and sustainable manner.

This, in turn, requires the lifting technology industry that serves them to continuously develop their products and use the latest technologies and materials to provide equipment that meets the needs of their customers.

In our previous post We have already raised some arguments that bridge and gantry crane systems why they may be a better alternative to fossil fuel or battery-powered hoists and cranes.

However, it is not enough that Their use results in lower emissions and better space utilisation: they must also perform well in terms of energy efficiency..

Efficient bridge crane

The process has already begun. on the drawing board begins where the modular design should be pursued. This makes it easier to upgrade or repair the lifts later on, element by element.

When the bridge cranes were built, increasing demand for recycled (which metals in which case it can be reused later) and the greatest possible use of environmentally friendly materials.

As bridge cranes are considered to be high energy consumers, manufacturers are constantly incorporating the latest technologies to reduce their energy requirements:

  • Variable frequency drives With these systems, engines can always be operated at their optimum speed, saving a significant amount of energy. They also enable smooth acceleration and deceleration, which is beneficial from a safety perspective and reduces mechanical stress on components, thereby increasing their service life.
  • Classified as IE3 and IE4 energy-efficient engines Its use enables the necessary performance to be available with low energy consumption.
  • Regenerative braking systems, which do not dissipate the energy generated during deceleration in the usual way, in the form of heat, but convert it back into electrical energy.
  • The latest generation of bridge cranes is no longer equipped with traditional incandescent bulbs or fluorescent tubes, but rather with With LED lighting system. In addition to providing excellent brightness and reducing the risk of accidents, LED bulbs also have a longer lifespan and are more energy efficient.

Expected trends in lifting technology

A next stop, after material usage and hardware upgrades, expected to come from the software side then the IoT (Internet of Things) in person.

The large amount of data collected and analysed using IoT technology can provide further opportunities to ensure that lifting equipment operating in industrial areas functions as efficiently as possible.

It is almost certain that the process will not stop. Companies will continue to aim to use tools that ensure a more cost-effective, sustainable industrial environment with the lowest possible energy consumption.

The lifting equipment industry has begun to take the necessary steps to ensure this.
