When we look around a big city, the silhouette of the spires above the rooftops is a familiar sight, we are used to their presence. Hans Liebherr his invention, which not only helped rebuild Germany after World War II, but also made it easier and faster to build countless tower blocks and skyscrapers, is now used worldwide. But how such steel monstrosities work remains a bit of a mystery to many.
How can they build them so high? How do they work? What does the tower crane operator do while working? So many questions that need to be answered. In today's article, we'll talk about the parts of the tower cranes and how they are assembled, while the next post will be about how they are operated.

Assembly of the tower core
In a previous blog post, we mentioned that to assemble the tower cores, the most often the help of another, usually a car crane, is needed. This auxiliary crane allows the steel elements of the tower crane to be assembled on site.
Once the location of the tower crane has been designated and properly prepared, it will be shut down and they are firmly anchored its base and place the central weights on it. This step a priority, because the stability of the tower crane depends mainly on the base.
After stable anchoring, you can start the assembly of the structure of the tower crane building the crane's fuselage. This process can be carried out using the crane mentioned above up to its maximum lifting height.

In the process, the crawler frame holds the crane's fuselage while the crane lifts the structural element up and into itself. The fuselage element is then secured by technicians and the crawler frame can be slid upwards, starting the process all over again until the tower crane reaches the desired height.
In all cases, assembly should be carried out check follow, during which the technicians make sure that the technical condition and stability of the crane are satisfactory and that it has been assembled in accordance with the relevant specifications. If everything is found to be in order, the crane is ready to start work.
