Everyone has seen it. Everybody knows it. Or at least you think you know it. But forklift trucks, these lifting machines with a history going back nearly a century, can surprise you.

For example, by having many more species than you might first think. Because when we say forklift truck, people almost invariably think of forklift trucks that are powered by an engine and operated from the driver's seat. However, there are a few other types of forklift truck.

Pallet lifters

Pallet stackers are - as their name suggests - primarily on pallets are used for lifting goods stored in.

Manual or electric versions are typical tools in shops and warehouses, but wherever you need to move large quantities of goods or heavier loads over short distances.

Their small footprint is combined with limited lifting capacity, but they are manoeuvrable, easy to manoeuvre and low in both installation and maintenance costs.

Collector crabs

Pedestrian or walk-behind forklift trucks can do everything that pallet trucks can do, plus these devices are now also capable of lifting loads.

With the use of the typically electrically powered collection trucks, the Commissioning can be made faster and more efficient with no emissions, thanks to a lifting height of several metres and customisable additional functions.

Telescopic handlers

A telescopic handler is a combination of cranes and forklifts with a machine and articulated forks, which are used to move pallets off the ground.

They are ideal for lifting heavier goods, or for reaching into tight spaces and special angles.

Forklift trucks with driver's seat

The best known types of forklift trucks, mounted on three or four wheels for stability (usually cast iron) is counterbalanced, motor-driven and ideal for loading and unloading pallets and transporting goods over shorter distances.

The drive engine can be diesel, petrol or LPG, but recently (especially for indoor forklift trucks) it has become more and more zero-emission electric models are also on the market.

Depending on their load capacity and (wheel) size, forklift trucks can be used both indoors and outdoors, as there are many models and configurations to choose from, so everyone can find the best solution for their needs.

These nimble, manoeuvrable and fast lifts are all-rounders that make lifting and loading faster and more efficient.
