Our customer planned to install a steel coil unloading and stacking line in a rented warehouse that cannot be craned. The efficient handling and economical storage of steel coils is an essential technological requirement for the installation of the production line, so a crane system was required.
First steps in crane design
Implementation was further complicated by the fact that the foundation and structure of the building were not originally designed for this increased load, so the columns of the building were out of the question as the supporting structure for the retrofitted crane.
A more in-depth analysis carried out before the design static tests further complicated the situation, as it was also shown that the 25 tonne crane legs requested by the client could not be loaded onto the concrete foundations, as this solution could cause the building - which was rented and therefore not owned by the client - to sink.
So the situation was not simple.
The Eco-Cranes Ltd-had a solution to this challenge, so with our experts and the involvement of the client, we developed a technical plan that met the customer's requirements, the technology and the maximum foot load conditions.
Efficient and safe material handling
The crane system, installed independently of the building, is based on SWF NOVA NDC type double jib crane, in which a three-stage overload prevention device has been installed by our staff.

Economical material storage
A additional customer requirements also included the economical storage of steel coils in small spaces, the safe, one-man material handling and to know the exact weight of the incoming raw material when it is put into storage.
As a solution to this challenge, our staff have developed a hook and line, electric, with integrated swivel provided coil catcher which, despite the low ceiling height of the warehouse, can be easily handled by a single person.
The weight of the loaded goods is precision built into the coil gripper, an integrated scale for accurate weighing of the load can be used to monitor the load during loading and any internal material handling.
