The largest ports in northern Europe have a history dating back more than 500 years. Thanks to their strategic location at the crossroads of the Baltic, North Sea and Atlantic trade routes, the three largest ports, Rotterdam, Antwerp and <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/darukesemelok.blog.hu\/2021\/02\/23\/karcsi_utazasi_tippjei_hamburg\"><strong>Port of Hamburg<\/strong><\/a><strong> key gateway between Asia, America and Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The role of ports in global trade<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to data from 2022, the major EU ports handled and loaded more than 96 million TEU of goods annually, playing a decisive role in international freight traffic.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) is a term used in shipping to measure container traffic. A TEU is a container that is 20 feet long, usually 8 feet wide, and has a capacity of approximately 34 m\u00b3.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A major port is not only vital to the economy of the country concerned, but also has an impact on trade flows throughout Europe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Extensive material handling and <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/darukesemelok.blog.hu\/2021\/07\/28\/karcsi_utazasi_tippjei_intermodalis_atrakokozpont_fenyeslitke\"><strong>logistical<\/strong><\/a><strong> Thanks to their network and well-developed rail and road connections, the major ports of Northern Europe efficiently link maritime and land freight transport.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cargo handling systems in a port<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Modern and coordinated goods handling systems are required to manage the huge volume of goods.<\/p>\n<p>The most important tools include <strong>cranes and forklifts of various designs and load capacities, enabling fast and efficient material handling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><u>Cranes<\/u><\/h3>\n<p>Various types of cranes are used to load and unload goods at a port, including gantry cranes and container cranes.<\/p>\n<p>These tools are capable of <strong>lift and move huge containers surprisingly quickly and efficiently<\/strong> from ships to land vehicles and vice versa.
